The terror Facebook inspires in some users makes me wonder why people even use it.
My one bad experience with the site was when someone messaged me with an excerpt from a journal file I keep. I blame Limewire for that, mainly, but like an idiot I deleted the FB account and later reinstalled Limewire. A virus problem led to me junking Limewire completely and a work-related matter put me back on Facebook.
I've also gotten two spam messages in the past two days on FB, both appeared to be porn-bots.
My question is, what exactly are people afraid of happening over Facebook? And if that fear exists, why bother to put any personal info about yourself online?
It's an interesting topic, although it's tempting to be a ludite and blow the whole thing off. The other day a family I have friended used it to keep a tab on their teenager who claimed over FB he had no way to contact them while he was out...of course his mother pointed out if he'd told them that over FB, then he had a way to speak with them.
